Boosting Membership
We currently have relatively low membership for this year. In order to help attract more members, we are thinking about giving fourth years the option to join for a discounted price (all of our SCAVMA clubs currently charge $5 for membership) and letting them know that we will be holding several meetings about information that will be pertinent to them in the very near future, such as salary negotiation. Additionally, we were thinking of giving students the option to pay for more than one year at a time for a discounted price. Has anyone had success in their chapters boosting membership? If so, any suggestions?

Multi-year membership discounts
We currently offer discounts for multi-year memberships- we try to get as many 1st years to get 4 year memberships as possible. We buy them a nice lunch (Olive Garden) during orientation and tell them about the VBMA as early as possible. We accept checks and membership forms that day to make it easy for them to join. In addition to a discount for a four year membership, we highlight the benefits of membership. We've even given out business card holders or something like that if you do get a four year membership. I know we are restructuring alittle bit for next year, but our focus will be on continuing to get 4 year memberships- it is hard to talk 4th years into paying for their membership considering they don't have alot of time to attend the meetings and events.
The four year membership pays for itself, usually in the first year if you take advantage of all of our meetings and benefits (for example, Dr. Wilson's book discount for members).
Hope this helps!
