How do you encourage students to attend meetings?
We are once again lucky enough to host Dr. Jim Wilson to lead a 2 day seminar for our students regarding business education over our fall break. This event has been well-received by all students that are willing to give up their time, but we do have trouble relaying the importance of this event. I'm curious as to how other schools market their events - what works best and how do you create excitement about business topics? Thanks for your help!

We try to just advertise like
We try to just advertise like crazy & give the key points for the meeting to spark the student's interest. I know it gets costly, but having an incentive like a raffle or food or maybe a cheap but useful business book for each attendee? Look into additional sponsors or work with Dr. Wilson to get additional sponsors to help out with something like that.
Maybe try to have a talk before the sign up for this event about business education, where business fits into the veterinary world, how business education will help students to secure jobs after graduation. Reiterate that business education is not just for those who want to own a business. Anyone can benefit from learning how to create a competitive resume & cover letter, how to manage their debt, how to negotiate a job, etc.
Hope some of that helps!
