NCSU using summer time wisely!

As the new president of the VBMA at NCSU I am trying to use our time in the summer as wisely as possible and we had our first meeting of the summer last week and got the ball rolling for a number of projects.
First, for those of you who do not know, NCSU is still under a significant amount of construction, but the end is in sight! So, every club has to have an Open House Coordinator, because we are going to have the first open house in a really long time in the spring of 2011! So this new responsibility will be that of the President Elect Chris Bidwell.
Second, NCSU is planning on hosting a Wolf Pack Leadership Conference powered by VLE in Feb. of 2011. Please keep your calendars open and the date will be coming soon! I just e-mailed Dr. Rick DeBowes to find out what weekend is best for him. And we will go from there, getting the school reserved for that weekend, and then the most fun part, trying to get it funded. But we are hoping that getting an earlier start this year could lead to more funding. As well as hopefully get more students from across the mid-Atlantic region to have the chance to attend!
Third, we discussed some of the ways to increase our membership. I hope to get the discounted 4 year membership available to the first year students. As well as try to make the VBMA look appealing to each and every new student using things that apply to all students such as loans, contracts, and just the idea of being good with your money.
Finally, I am going to try to get NCSU's VBMA on a January to December schedule. So that the new officers would be elected in Dec. and come into their new office in Jan. There are a few advantages to this including the idea that our club could then operate on the physical year and operate a little more like a real business. Most of my officers are on board although we are cautious about this transition and know that a few schools have already done it. So, if anyone has any ideas about how to do it, and make it as smooth as possible, or how to NOT do it. Please contact me I would be very interested to see where some of the pit falls are so that we can avoid them.
Thank you for any help.
With the help of all my officers this is going to be a great year here at NCSU!
