Much of the focus of our recent national meeting centered on the idea of buying a practice in order to overcome the problem of significant debt. This, however, is not a solution that will work for everyone, as there are only so many clinics out there to be bought. Moreover, every new grad cannot start a new clinic without saturating the various markets available to us. Accordingly, my questions is, what else can we do to handle the debt/salary issue the faces us? The first things that come to mind are seeking legislation for debt forgiveness or increased funding to the veterinary colleges so that tuition can be lowered. What are your thoughts?
