Q2 Topic: Looking back and looking forward
Howdy, South Central!
This is my last regional topic that I will post for you guys! *sniff, sniff* I have really enjoyed getting to know and working with each one of you, and I hope that we can continue to stay in touch.
My topic idea was driven by the changing of the year and the changing of the guard as far as national and regional leaders go.
In Roman mythology, the god Janus is, according to Wikipedia, "the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings, endings and time." He is often depicted having two faces -- one looking forward and one backward. In fact, January is named after him!
So my question is, looking back on your chapter for the past year, is there anything you would do differently? Is there an idea you'd like to implement going forward? Is there something that was wildly successful that you wouldn't change at all?
I know that, personally, as regional leader, I tried my best to do better than had been done in the past. I wanted to give my all to the position and to helping you guys and being an advocate for your chapters. I don't know if I was successful in that goal or not, but I do believe that given my time constraints, I did my best. I know I had intentions of things like a region-wide service event and a newsletter that I did not accomplish, and I feel like I missed an opportunity in not doing so. However, these are areas where your new RL can shine if she decides those are things that she wants to pursue. Or she may have completely new ideas! My hope for her and for you guys is that she does better than I did (probably not a tall order!).
Thanks again, everyone, for your efforts this year. YOU are what make VBMA the amazing organization that it is. Hope to see many of you at the national meeting next week!
Your RL,
Stephanie
