Speaker Topic
This topic is somewhat related to the national board discussion regarding our debt and student loans. As a student, I feel as though I know very little about my loans and the different bills that are in discussion and those that have been passed in the last several years that could potentially affect me. I think most students are in the same boat as I am and know very little about their loans. Unfortunately, as students, no one wants to take the time and energy to read through a very lengthy bill with it's political jargon.
Does anyone know of a speaker that could come and strip down these bills to just the facts and how they will affect us as students? For example, at the conference in Orlando this past year, there was a speaker who discussed that now if you work for a nonprofit organization for 10 years after you graduate, the remainder of your loans will be forgiven. I don't know how I would have ever found that information out without attending the conference. Does anyone know of a speaker that would be able to explain options such as this, as well as the bill that is the national discussion topic?

Try and contacting
Try and contacting Tennessee's veterinary association to see who in your state is lobbying for bills related to veterinary. In Minnesota we have previous veterinarians working with passing bills - such as debt forgiveness for working in rural areas. If you can find someone through that route that would be willing to talk would be great. That way you can get your state's opportunities as well as the national opportunities. Also say that you want to get the message across so that students can understand it and benefit from it.
I know very little about all this as well & I am not sure if I am even using the right language, but that is the best that I can explain it! I just remember having a class that we had a few current bills in Minnesota explained to us & what their benefits were & what they are trying to accomplish.
Hope that helps!
