Starting Off the Year right!

So here at Tuskegee, we have had a busy start of the year! We started off with the Freshman Orientation/ TUSVM VLE. The students were taken to the Alabama 4H center where they spent two days learning skills to help them succeed in vet school and life. We really wanted to emphasize excellence in the academic world, personal world and professional world. The students loved it and seemed to learn a lot. It also was a great opportunity to generate interest in VBMA and how the organization can help you succeed.

The day after the VLE, we started a new program- Regroup. This program is designed for 3rd year students to help increase their communication skills before starting clinics. This was brought about because of conflict that happened within the class. I really feel like this is a great program, no matter what class and hope to continue this in the future. The students really got a great day of communication skills and learned a lot about themselves.

So since school actually started, we have had 2 meetings- one of which being an intro meeting detailing how you can be involved in the VBMA, what the VBMA is about, and our upcoming meetings. We then had a meeting yesterday with Bank of America talking about the Business of Your Future. It was a well attended meeting! We have had a great showing to all of our meetings and our freshman really seem to respond well to the events! Our participation is at an all time high!

We are very excited to have several more meetings this month. We have a busy semester ahead of us!

So how have you guys been doing? What meetings are you having or planning this year?
